Besonderheiten
Lage & direkte Umgebung des Wohnmobilstellplatzes
We are located in the southwest of France, on the border of Lot-et-Garonne and Dordogne. We are in the middle between the big cities of Bordeaux (160 km) and Toulouse (150 km). Closer by, you have Villeneuve-sur-Lot (25 km), Bergerac (45 km), Agen (55 km) and Cahors (80 km), among others.
Our region is known as the ‘Coeur de Bastide’. Bastides are fortified towns built in the Middle Ages, mainly found in south-western France, and we are surrounded by some of the most famous bastides: Monflanquin, Villeréal and Monpazier. There are of course several other fairy-tale villages in the area that are worth a visit: Issigeac, Pays-de-Belvès, Pujols, Puy-l'Évêque, Sarlat-la-Canéda,...
You can visit several authentic villages, bastides and castles in the immediate surroundings. On any day of the week, you can visit one of these villages for the weekly traditional market. In July and August, all kinds of events are organised (including ‘fêtes médiévales’, ‘Bodéga’, vide greniers, brocantes) and there are also evening markets where you can taste all the local delicacies, accompanied by music.
There are also some impressive caves to visit in the region. On both the Lot and Dordogne rivers you can canoe/kayak and there are great swimming spots. Around our property there are hiking trails, VTT (mountain bike) trails and cycling routes. .
The vineyards of Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne are among the oldest in France. Together, they produce no fewer than 19 AOC wines (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée), including the famous Monbazillac, Côtes de Bergerac, Côtes de Duras, Armagnac, etc. The Château de Monbazillac, with its vineyards around it, is some 40 kilometres from us and provides a fun and informative trail in and around the castle, concluding with a wine tasting. Besides the renowned wineries, of course, you also have many small-scale producers. At Domaine de la Tuque, just 10 kilometres from us and close to Biron Castle, some delicious organic wines are grown.
